Abstract:In order to analyze the teaching strategies used in the classroom and provide reliable and valid data for classification of these, this quantitative descriptive study, cross sectional, aimed to: 1) to describe the distributions and average frequency levels of 12 teaching strategies and 2) to analyze the factorial structure of the Teaching Strategies for Meaningful Learning Scale (EEDAS). To which was applied the EEDAS (Mendez and Gonzalez, 2011) to a sample of 200 undergraduate faculty of health sciences and humanities at a public university in Mexico. We can say that the strategies which obtained averages higher, regarding the first objective, ordered according to the points, were guided discussion, objectives and intentions and knowledge as design, brainstorming, positive-negative-interesting, abstract, conceptual maps and tree diagram. In relation to second objective the best fit was found in a standard three factors correlated with one correlation model; where 7 of the 9 fit index referred achieved good values.
