Diferencias de género en el trabajo sexual

Abstract

The gender perspective and its study as a variable is scarcely included in research on prostitution or sex work. Therefore, this study analyses gender differences in a sample of 553 sex workers in Spain, located in the middle stratum of prostitution, and which was collected through ethnographic methods, interviews, survey and field diary. The beginning of sex work was due to coercion for 13.4% of the sample, and the main motivation was economic necessity. The results show important differences between the genders that are made invisible by not including them in the studies.
