Pengaruh Ekstrak Jahe Merah (Zingiber Officinale.) Terhadap Pertumbuhan Bakteri Shigella Dysentriae

Abstract

<p>Penyakit diare di Indonesia masih merupakan masalah kesehatan yang tinggi untuk angka morbiditas dan mortalitasnya. Diare masih menjadi penyebab kematian pada anak dibawah 5 tahun yaitu sebesar 25,2%. Angka kesakitan (morbiditas) diare di Indonesia sepanjang tahun 2015 mencapai 6.897.463 dan diare yang telah ditangani mencapai 2.544.084 atau sebanyak 36,9%. Salah satu bahan alam yang berpotensi dalam menangani bakteri <em>Shigella Dysentriae</em> adalah jahe (<em>Zingiber officinale</em>). Tanaman jahe sendiri keberadaannya sangat melimpah di Indonesia. Efek antibakteri terhadap <em>Shigella dysenteriae </em>dikarenakan kandungan aktif dalam rimpang jahe yaitu gingerol yang berfungsi menghambat aktivitas antibakterial phenolic, flavonoid dengan mekanisme penghambatan dengan cara mendenaturasi protein dinding sel bakteri.</p>
