Among production volume, productivity, economic efficiency and labour safety, always there is an unspoken conflict: a high level of productivity - related to a maximal availability and efficiency - makes sometimes to neglect entirely the fundamental aspects concerning the labour safety and environmental preservation, or, more often, to have little consideration to them. This is the reason of the present study, which tries to connect in an integrated manner all these factors by using a genuine concept: the safety breakeven point. The practical applicability of this new concept is proofed throughout a case study, which was developed on the basis of a Romanian textile firm.
