Las habilidades sociales en directores de centros escolares

Abstract

Este estudio pretende conocer, en qué medida los directores escolares de centros públicos tienen desarrolladas y practican las habilidades sociales en el desempeño de sus funciones directivas, con objeto de planificar y proponer, en función de los resultados, los necesarios complementos formativos, para que el ejercicio de dicha función directiva alcance niveles más altos de eficacia. La muestra ha estado compuesta por 99 directores, de Centros Educativos Públicos de Primaria y Secundaria, de las provincias de Granada y Almería. Los resultados obtenidos en esta investigación nos proporcionan un conocimiento fiable, hasta ahora inexistente, sobre los perfiles que caracterizan a los actuales directivos de centros educativos, en habilidades sociales e interpersonales. Un resumen de los resultados obtenidos, es el siguiente: a) la mitad de los directores escolares (49%) obtienen puntuaciones que están por encima del centil 75, en conductas de aserción y en habilidades sociales; b) casi la mitad de los directores de nuestra muestra, se caracterizan por poner en práctica las habilidades sociales, a través de comportamientos, en los que la “autoexpresión”, “decir no”, “iniciar interacciones” y “expresar su enfado”, son los componentes más relevantes y c) el nivel del centro, el número de alumnos del centro y la antigu?edad como director, han presentado algunas diferencias significativas.Palabras clave: Habilidades sociales, directores escolares, función directiva, liderazgo.
