可燃性気体が空気や酸素と混合した系に、 熱や火花などによりエネルギーが与えられると爆発反応を起こすことはよく知られているが、 可燃性気体の種類により爆発を起こす濃度範囲や爆発を起こすのに必要なエネルギー値に違いのあることはあまり知られていない。 本解説では、 爆発反応が起こる限界濃度に着目し、 その理論的取扱いや測定方法および圧力・温度などの外部因子がこの限界濃度に与える影響について概説したものである。
