Abstract

Com o envelhecimento da população, alterações de hábitos saudáveis e aumento do diagnóstico se espera que tenhamos um aumento no caso de diagnóstico de câncer. Este fato pode permitir diagnósticos precoces, melhorando o desfecho do paciente, ao mesmo tempo que conseguirá diagnosticar e confirmar mortes provenientes de tumores malignos. O câncer é a principal causa de morte no mundo, com aproximadamente 10 milhões de casos confirmados em 2020, segundo a Organização Mundial de Saúde. Isto representa 1/6 dos casos de mortes provenientes de doenças. A hematologia é essencial no diagnóstico e compreensão de processos fisiopatológicos. Nos últimos anos acompanhamos um crescimento do tratamento biotecnológico proveniente dos anticorpos monoclonais, novos equipamentos diagnósticos e procedimentos cirúrgicos mais modernos e precisos. Com isso, cresce também o interesse de estudantes e profissionais da área da saúde sobre o tema e a importância de nos mantermos atualizados. Nesta linha de pensamento a Editora Pasteur organizou essa seleção de estudos sobre o tema na publicação do livro Oncologia e Hematologia – Edição II.
