Abstract

Objetivo: investigar, por meio de uma revisão de literatura, os recursos tecnológicos disponibilizados aos ortodontistas para o uso nas práticas diárias dos alinhadores invisíveis e métodos de obtenção de informações e planejamentos odontológicos a fim de mostrar a sua praticidade. Métodos: foram realizadas pesquisas em artigos científicos nas bases de dados PubMed, Scielo e Google Acadêmico com os seguintes termos: “Ortodontia”; “Invisalign®”; “Alinhadores”; “Scanner”; “Software”. Resultados: Os modelos que utilizam tecnologias de impressão 3D deram o primeiro passo para a redução de erros durante a obtenção de impressão das arcadas. O uso dos alinhadores ainda é limitado a alguns movimentos, obstáculo que poderá ser resolvido com o passar do tempo. Conclusão: A escolha pelo uso dos alinhadores traz alguns benefícios se comparados aos métodos tradicionais de alinhamento ortodôntico e é a busca por grande parte dos pacientes, mas o motivo pelo qual pacientes e dentistas ainda fazem pouco uso dos meios tecnológicos disponíveis se dá pelo alto custo de aquisição, mantimento, manutenção e movimentos limitados dos alinhadores
