Kajian Bentuk-Bentuk Sediaan Farmasi sebagai Pedikulisida

Abstract

Abstract. Pediculosis capitis is an infection of the scalp caused by the investment of Pediculus humanus var. capitis or often called head lice. Head lice are obligate ectoparasites that can only live by attaching to human hair or scalp because head lice survive by sucking blood (hematophagy). One alternative to overcome the problems caused by head lice is to use pediculicide preparations that are widely circulated in the market, both preparations containing herbal ingredients and synthetic chemicals. The purpose of this research is to determine what pharmaceutical preparations forms can be used as pediculicides and to know what active ingredients can be used as pediculicides. The study was conducted by Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by collecting various literatures from international and national journals on databases relating to various forms of pharmaceutical preparations and active ingredients as pediculicides. The results of this study indicate that pharmaceutical preparations forms that can be used as pediculicides are shampoo, lotion, and hair tonic preparations. Then, the active ingredients that can be used as pediculicides are permethrin, lindane, and malathion (synthetic chemicals); while from the herbal ingredients are garlic, soursop fruit and seeds, a mixture of essential oils (consisting of eucalyptus oil, fennel oil, and lemon oil), neem oil, and white cempaka flower cem-ceman.
