Gambaran Tingkat Pengetahuan tentang Tuberkulosis pada Penderita Tuberkulosis Paru

Abstract

Abstract. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that has become a global health concern, particularly in Indonesia, which ranks second in the world for the highest number of TB cases. Patient knowledge about TB is crucial in supporting treatment success, as it influences preventive behaviors and adherence to therapy. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design conducted at the Kutawaringin Health Center, Bandung Regency. The study sample consisted of 84 respondents selected through random sampling techniques. Data were collected using a questionnaire that assessed patients' knowledge of TB, covering aspects of symptoms, transmission, and treatment. Data analysis was performed univariately to describe the distribution of respondents' knowledge levels. The results showed that 63% of respondents had a good level of knowledge, 37% had a moderate level, and none had a low level of knowledge. The majority of patients understood TB symptoms, transmission methods, and the importance of adhering to treatment. Most pulmonary TB patients at the Kutawaringin Health Center had a good level of knowledge about their disease. However, health education remains essential to enhance deeper understanding and prevent non-adherence to treatment. Sustainable health education programs are expected to strengthen patient awareness in managing TB optimally.
