Gambaran Kontaminasi Telur Cacing STH pada Sayuran Kemangi di Pasar Cikajang

Abstract

Abstract. Soil transmitted helminth (STH) infection, also known as helminthiasis, is one of the most common worm infections worldwide. One of the factors that can cause helminthiasis is eating contaminated vegetables in a raw state without being washed properly first. One of the vegetables that is often consumed in a raw state is basil. This study aims to determine the description of Soil Transmitted Helminth egg contamination in basil (Ocimum basilicum) vegetables sold in the Cikajang Garut market. This research design is descriptive observational using cross sectional method. The inclusion criteria in this study were basil leaves sold in the Cikajang Garut market. The number of samples taken was 62 samples with consecutive sampling method. Examination of the sample using the sedimentation method and then analyzed using a microscope with 2 repetitions. Data analysis using univariate analysis. The results showed that the number of STH egg contamination in 62 samples was entirely negative (100%). The conclusion of this study is that there is no STH worm egg contamination in basil vegetables sold at Cikajang Market, Garut. Although there is no contamination, the cleanliness of basil vegetables to be consumed must still be considered by consumers, including washing vegetables first using running water.
