Modelos dendroclimáticos para crecimiento radial forestal

Abstract

La dendrocronología es una herramienta útil para analizar las relaciones entre el clima y los árboles. Sin embargo, existen pocos estudios en México que hayan examinado detalles de cómo la sensibilidad del crecimiento radial de Pinus cooperi puede variar de acuerdo al clima local. Es esencial entender las implicaciones de cada variable climática para el estudio futuro de los diferentes procesos ecológicos que las especies pueden experimentar: extinción, migración o ajustes fisiológicos. Los índices del ancho de anillos de crecimiento han sido documentados como indicadores útiles para entender mejor la respuesta de crecimiento de los árboles a las variables de clima regional. En este estudio se elaboraron modelos de respuesta climática mediante tres series dendrocronológicas (TRI): Standard (Sd), Residual (Rd) y Arstan (Ar). Se trabajó en un área del estado de Durango en la Sierra Madre Occidental. A partir de procedimientos de regresión múltiple se asociaron las primeras series con datos históricos de precipitación y temperatura. Los análisis de regresión revelaron diferencias en sensibilidad de TRI a variables climáticas. En particular, las respuestas más fuertes de TRI al clima mensual se observaron para temperaturas máximas y mínimas.
