MORTALIDAD Y RECLUTAMIENTO DE ÁRBOLES EN UN BOSQUE TEMPLADO DE PINO-ENCINO EN JALISCO

Abstract

En la dinámica forestal y los patrones sucesionales intervienen algunos procesos como la mortandad e incorporación de individuos, cuyo conocimiento fundamenta las acciones de protección y manejo de bosques. Se evaluó la mortalidad y el reclutamiento de la masa arbórea en el área natural protegida Sierra de Quila, Jalisco. En 31 sitios permanentes de monitoreo se realizaron dos mediciones: una en el año 2002 y otra en 2010, que incluyeron todos los árboles con diámetro normal ≥ 7 cm, además de los reclutados. Los códigos de mortalidad registrados fueron: muerto en pie, derribado o roto, cortado y sin rastro aparente. Se estimaron los coeficientes de mortalidad, coeficiente de reclutamiento exponencial y la vida media del bosque. En el primer muestreo se contabilizaron 918 individuos, distribuidos en 17 especies; y en el segundo 879, con 16 especies. Se obtuvo una tasa anual de mortalidad de 1.75 % y un coeficiente de mortalidad exponencial de 1.77 %. La tasa anual de reclutamiento fue 1.08 % y el coeficiente de reclutamiento exponencial 1.07 %. La vida media estimada del bosque varió entre sitios para un promedio de 45.4 años. Las diferencias entre muestras, tanto en individuos como en las tasas demográficas denotaron un desequilibrio en la dinámica poblacional del bosque.
