PERFIL DE ESTABILIDAD DIMENSIONAL DE LAS MADERAS PRIMAVERA Y ROSA MORADA

Abstract

El perfil de estabilidad dimensional de las maderas Roseodendron donnell-smithii (Primavera) y Tabebuia rosea (Rosa morada) se determinó mediante la investigación experimental de sus principales índices de movimiento dimensional y anisotropías, de acuerdo a la norma DIN 52 184. Se recolectaron seis árboles de cada especie del estado de Chiapas; a partir de la zona de diámetro normal de cada árbol se elaboraron 24 especímenes de prueba de 25 x 25 x 10 mm saturados de humedad y se acondicionaron secuencialmente en clima con humedad relativa del aire de 65, 85, 35 y 0 % e inmersión en agua hasta saturación, para calcular diversos índices. Los resultados indican: hinchamiento máximo radial = 3.3 y 3.0 % y tangencial = 6.2 y 6.9 %; hinchamiento diferencial radial = 0.14 y 0.15 % / % y tangencial = 0.24 y 0.29 %/ %; contracción radial normal por secado = 1.3 y 0.88 % y tangencial = 2.5 y 1.8 %, anisotropía del hinchamiento diferencial = 1.7 y 2.0, y anisotropía de la contracción por secado = 2.0 y 2.2. Con base en esta última, se infiere que puede tener comportamiento estable ante cambios de su contenido de humedad desde el estado verde al seco (CH≈12 %). Las manufacturas elaboradas con madera seca de estas especies manifestarán muy buena estabilidad dimensional en uso con ambientes de humedades relativas del aire de 65 a 85 % ó 65 a 35 %. A excepción de la contracción normal por secado (mayor en madera Primavera), el movimiento dimensional de ambas resultó similar no obstante su diferencia en densidad.
