GERMINACIÓN DE SEMILLAS DE Byrsonima crassifolia (L.) Kunth

Abstract

Byrsonima crassifolia (nanche) es una especie con valor comercial de la que se aprovecha el fruto en fresco, principalmente. Sus poblaciones naturales se han reducido de tal manera que solo quedan manchones o individuos aislados. El restablecimiento de este taxón en los ecosistemas requiere de la realización de estudios sobre la germinación de la semilla, debido a la presencia de latencia física proporcionada por un endocarpio grueso e impermeable que dificulta la germinación. El objetivo del trabajo fue evaluar tratamientos pregerminativos que permitan romper la latencia del endocarpio y lograr un alto y más uniforme porcentaje de germinación. Se aplicaron cuatro tratamientos y un testigo, los cuales fueron: 1) Testigo; 2) H2SO4 2 h + AG3 500 ppm 2 h; 3) H2SO4 2 h + AG3 1000ppm2h;4)H2SO4 1h+AG3 500ppm2h;y5)H2SO4 1h+AG3 1000ppm 2h.Elexperimentoseestablecióbajoundiseño completamente al azar con cuatro repeticiones por tratamiento. Se obtuvieron diferencias estadísticas altamente significativas entre los tratamientos (α ≤ 0.01), en las que el mejor resultado se alcanzó con la aplicación de H2SO4 2 h + AG3 1 000 ppm, 2 h; con un porcentaje de germinación de 51.2±4.7. Se concluyó que el nanche presenta latencia física y es posible romperla con la escarificación de la semilla.
