Lago Ypacaraí: aplicación de tecnosoles antieutrofizantes y reducción de cianobacterias

Abstract

Se presentan los resultados de las pruebas con tecnosoles para reducir la concentración de nutrientes N (nitrógeno) y P (fósforo), causantes de la eutrofización del cuerpo hídrico del lago Ypacaraí, en la región central de Paraguay, en el Parque Nacional Lago Ypacaraí. La falta de un manejo adecuado de los recursos naturales, las prácticas agrícolas inadecuadas y los vertidos de efluentes domésticos e industriales no tratados que están cargados de nutrientes causan floraciones de cianobacterias. Especies detectadas son Raciborskii cylindrospermopsis, Spiroides anabaena, Aphanocapsa sp„ Microcystis aeruginosa, Chroococcus turgidus, Aphanoccipsa Sp., Anabaena affinis, Aphanocapsa delicatissima, Merismopedia tenuis sima y Microcystis flos-aquae. Los tecnosoles son suelos inertes preparados con componentes similares a los de suelo natural. Tienen la capacidad de adsorción (adhesión, atracción para fijar) específica más alta de fosfatos orgánicos y solubles orgánicos y se seleccionaron de acuerdo con el nivel de N y P. Un limnocorral de dos metros de diámetro fue instalado en el lago para el experimento. Tres bolsas con 8 kilos, cada una, de tecnosoles se instalaron en metros de profundidad: 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 y 2.5. Los resultados muestran que la adsorción e intercambio de iones interactúan con las superficies adsorbentes, y que se adhieren nutrientes. Una consecuencia de la adsorción de N y P, fuentes de alimentos de las cianobacterias, por tecnosoles, genera una fuerte reducción o incluso la desaparición de las especies de cianobacterias, según se observa en los resultados de laboratorio.
