Tratamiento de fracturas vertebrales por compresión con implante intramedular expandible SpineJack®: primera experiencia en Ecuador

Abstract

Las fracturas vertebrales por compresión han sido tratadas con cemento óseo en el interior de las mismas, con técnicas como la cifoplastía y vertebroplastía; lo que afecta al paciente, pues hay una fuga del cemento a los tejidos aledaños; como consecuencia, una afección a la altura vertebral. Lo óptimo es una adecuada reducción de la fractura, ya que la altura vertebral influye directamente en la calidad de vida de los pacientes. La investigación evalúa la aplicación del método implante intramedular expandible SpineJack® para este el tratamiento de este tipo de fracturas; la cual se efectuó por primera vez en Ecuador a una paciente de 65, en junio de 2016. El resultado dio valores similares a los reportados por otros investigadores, en otros países, por lo tanto, el incremento de este uso no solo mejorá la calidad de vida de los pacientes, sino, presentará un avance en lo anatomo-funcional de la vértebra fracturada. Con este estudio, se evidencia la necesidad del seguimiento de otras experiencias con este dispositivo en Ecuador, lo que permitiría evaluar de manera más completa su aplicación como tratamiento.
