Catálogo de Fitoplancton de la Bahía de Cartagena, Bahía Portete y Agua de Lastre

Abstract

Este catalogo es el producto de investigaciones promovidas por la Direccion General Maritima (DIMAR), a traves del Centro de Investigaciones Oceanograficas e Hidrograficas del Caribe (CIOH), al considerar que los paises necesitan conocer su biodiversidad, para protegerla y evitar la transferencia de posibles invasores. En este sentido el catalogo reune informacion desde el 2002 relacionada con la identificacion de especies del fitoplancton presentes en dos de los puertos de mayor actividad maritima en el Caribe colombiano, de manera que se continua con el compromiso de aportar conocimiento para garantizar la proteccion del medio marino y cumplir con las funciones institucionales asignadas. En consecuencia, el presente documento da a conocer especies de la comunidad fitoplanctonica registradas en Cartagena, Puerto Bolivar y Agua de Lastre. Para ello centro su atencion en cuatro grupos de importancia ecologica, como son las Diatomeas, los Dinoflagelados, las cloroficeas y las Cianoficeas. La idea de la publicacion, es que esta se aproveche como documento de referencia y consulta en futuros estudios de taxonomia, inventarios y biodiversidad. Adicionalmente el catalogo aporta informacion a los estudios de levantamiento de la linea base biologica portuaria, cuyo objetivo esta orientado a establecer cuales especies son nativas y cuales no, buscando facilitar la gestion de planes y programas orientados al cuidado, preservacion y conservacion de los ecosistemas marinos del Caribe colombiano.
