Gênero, moda e santidade

Abstract

O artigo tem como escopo principal discutir as relações entre gênero, moda e santidade na Idade Média. O objetivo é analisar representações textuais e imagéticas de Elisabeth da Hungria, uma mulher que foi canonizada e venerada nos séculos finais do medievo, mesmo momento de produção da documentação em estudo. Para isso, exami- namos as referências textuais às vestes e os elementos de vestimentas, cores e adornos presentes nas imagens. Fundamentadas nas ideias de Scott (1999) sobre gênero, reflexões de Lipovetsky (2009), Braudel (2005) e Boucher (2010) sobre moda para o período me- dieval e de Silva (2022) sobre santidade, desenvolvemos a análise proposta. Defendemos que o gênero interfere nos processos de reconhecimento social de santidade que, por sua vez, não ignora a moda do período, ainda que essas questões não sejam os temas centrais dos materiais hagiográficos.
