FRECUENCIA DE AGENESIA DEL TERCER MOLAR EN LA CIUDAD DE CHICLAYO

Abstract

Introducción: la agenesia de terceros molares es una evidencia de la evolución de la especie humana, se calcula que en el futuro la formula dentaria será de 28 dientes, con la consiguiente desaparición de los terceros molares. Objetivo: determinar la frecuencia de agenesia de terceros molares a nivel general y según sexo, grupo etario, cuadrante. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo en historias clínicas con radiografías panorámicas de pacientes atendidos en consultorios odontológicos de la ciudad de Chiclayo – Perú, entre los años 2018 – 2020. La población fue de 422 historias clínicas y la muestra fue 109 historias. Los resultados fueron mostrados en tablas y gráficos y se utilizaron porcentajes. Resultados: La frecuencia de agenesia fue 36.7%. En el sexo masculino fue de 90% frente al 10% de sexo femenino. En el grupo de 14 a 20 años se registró mas agenesia con un 77.5%. El diente que tuvo mas agenesia fue el 3.8 con 37.5%. Conclusiones: al igual que otros estudios, se observa agenesia de terceros molares (36.7%), siendo un aspecto a considerar respecto a la evolución de la especia humana.
