Sifat Fisis dan Mekanis Papan Partikel Berbahan Baku Cabang Kayu Jabon Berdasarkan Ukuran Partikel

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sifat fisis dan mekanis papan partikel dari cabang kayu jabon dengan memvariasikan ukuran partikel. Selain itu digunakan Urea Formaldehide sebagai matriks, parafin untuk penghambat air serta katalis. Variasi ukuran partikel yang digunakan ada 3 jenis, yaitu partikel kasar, sedang,dan halus yang akan diuji sifat fisis dan mekanisnya dengan menggunakan standarisasi Japanese Industrial Standars (JIS) A 5908-2003. Variasi partikel kasar meliputi ukuran partikel lolos 4 mesh dan 6 mesh, partikel sedang lolos 8 dan 10 mesh serta partikel halus lolos 12 mesh.Secara umum, papan partikel berbahan baku cabang kayu jabon dengan ukuran partikel lolos 6 mesh (partikel sedang) merupakan sampel terbaik dibandingkan dengan sampel yang lain. Nilai rata-rata hasil penelitian yang di peroleh adalah kerapatan 0.69 g/cm3, kadar air 12.40%, pengembangan tebal 10.31%, MOE 126.236 kg/cm2, MOR 192.993 kg/cm2 , keteguhan rekat internal 4.75 kg/cm2 dan kuat pegang sekrup 94.15 kg.
