This standard operating procedure (SOP) explained how to carry out a mapping review that incorporated rapid review methodology and was augmented by generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools for part of Deliverable 6 of the National Best Practice Framework for Early Childhood Intervention project. Deliverable 6 involved co-producing practical materials and tools to support clinical decision-making and help people understand and use the Framework. This SOP provided step-by-step instructions for creating evidence-based resources that guided the choice and use of outcome measures for children; for parents, carers, and families; and for practitioners and services. It described the types of information collected at each stage, how AI platforms were used and verified, decision points that guided progress, and methods for collating, synthesising, and presenting findings using structured templates with expert verification integrated at key stages.
