This thesis explores employee participation in decision making within workplaces, and how this can be supported using digital technologies. Using an action research approach, two digitalised employee voice processes and systems were designed, deployed and evaluated. The first system, OurVoice, is a bottom-up anonymous secure platform that facilitates workplace discussion. The second system, OurStrategy, was a top-down management-led, but employee-driven organisational strategy consultation process. Both systems were deployed and evaluated in real-world contexts, engaging over 1000 employees, employers and stakeholders.
