La corrupción, los bienes públicos y la solidaridad social

Abstract

Este artículo trata de mostrar la corrupción, en general, como un problema ético y el tipo especial de la misma que generan las políticas neoliberales, como una forma de socavar la supervivencia de la sociedad como un proyecto solidario. En la medida en que los bienes públicos se desplazan a manos privadas, la sociedad va perdiendo la capacidad de conservar algún tipo de compromiso ético con alguna forma de bien común o la capacidad para plantearse metas comunes que comprometan un esfuerzo común. El ambiente generado por la globalización y sus prácticas comerciales, que tiende a naturalizar todo tipo de conductas depredadoras de los bienes públicos, está corrompiendo la vida ética de las sociedades, sin la cual ellas no pueden conservar sus más básicas relaciones. Por tal razón, las sociedades necesitan combatir la corrupción retomando el derecho a definir qué consideran su bien común y alcanzando acuerdos políticos acerca de sus metas comunes. Sin esos acuerdos, no tiene sentido la solidaridad. Por ello hay que hacer recuperar lo que se ha perdido bajo la ofensiva neoliberal y por impacto de la globalización capitalista. Se deben combatir las conductas depredadoras de los bienes públicos por medio de una permanente definición y defensa del bien común.
