
A meningite de Mollaret é uma doença rara, definida por episódios recorrentes de meningite asséptica, clinicamente caracterizados por febre, cefaleias, meningismo e pleiocitose do líquor com células deMollaret (células grandes de origemmonocítica). Estes episódios são separados por períodos assintomáticos, têm remissão espontânea e não deixam sequelas neurológicas. Descreve-se o caso de uma criança de quatro anos, que apresentou três episódios de meningite asséptica, no período de um ano. A apresentação clínica foi similar em todos eles: cefaleias frontais, vómitos persistentes, temperatura subfebril e rigidez da nuca. Nos três episódios a avaliação laboratorial sérica e do liquor, foi compatível com meningite asséptica e o estudo em dois deles confirmou a etiologia por enterovirus, agente pouco frequente desta entidade.
