Dilema Ético e Moral Distress

Abstract

O autor procura discutir a utilização e o significado do termo moral distress tendo em atenção as circunstâncias em que é usado e a sua importância no processo de deliberação ética na prática clínica. De acordo com a literatura e com os conceitos da bioética conclui que, do seu ponto de vista, não existe lugar ao moral distress enquanto emoção ou fenómeno que surge após a deliberação e a decisão clínica sendo, no entanto aceitável que surja como parte inevitável durante a discussão do dilema ético. Assim sendo, e na sua opinião, não é o moral distress que pode ser responsabilizado pela fadiga da compaixão ou pelo moral residue.
