Moleküladsorption auf einem oxidischen Quasikristall

Moleküladsorption auf einem oxidischen Quasikristall

Abstract

2013 the first 2D oxide quasicrystal (OQC) was discovered. It is derived from an ultrathin BaTiO3 film on a Pt(111) substrate and exhibits a dodecagonal symmetry. Quasicrystalline surfaces are potential templates for highly ordered but aperiodic molecular self-assemblies. Here, we report first adsorption studies on an OQC. Within this thesis, the adsorption of C60, CO2, CO, and Cyclopentadiene was investigated. The arrangement and bonding of the molecules are analyzed by using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) and high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS) at different temperatures. A weak physisorption of all molecules on the template is found under certain conditions. The local arrangement of different molecules on the OQC shows quasicrystalline building blocks and monolayers amongst others.
