Authors: Zinggl, Eva;

Street Vendors in Südostasien

Abstract

My following thesis deals with den phenomenon of the informal economy with a special focus on street vendors in Southeast Asia. Street Vending is an very important occupation in almost every country around the world, especially in major cities. Street Vending provides a livelihood for the urban poor in developing countries. It does not only add dynamics and life on the street but also makes a contribution to economic and social life. Particularly in times of economic bottleneck street vending developed to a form to guarantee a livelihood for wide population groups. However, during difficult economic times a new generation of street vendors developed. Those young street vendors took the economic crisis as a chance and started a new form of street vending.
