Managerial Change and Organisation’s Performance

Authors: Gollan, Sebastian;

Managerial Change and Organisation’s Performance

Abstract

The underlying paper examines the sacking behaviour and the sacking performance of German football teams. While doing so, the author mainly focuses on the effect of professionalism on managerial changes. The team performance will be measured by two models – point based and goal difference based – which are developed in this paper and allow the result prediction based on previous results. The models are used to examine over 24,000 unique games over a span of 52 years in the first three divisions of the German Bundesliga. The basic analysis shows a performance increase for managerial changes that outperforms the control group. In terms of professionalism which is analysed for the aspects time, division and legal form, the sample does only offer some significant results.
