Exergames: Bewegungsfördernde digitale Bildschirmspiele?

Abstract

In the last years digital games become more important. One of the most important points has been, that these digital games got more important in the sector of physical activity. Looking at the side of sports science, there could be an effect of physical acti-vity through these activity-based games. In this masterthesis there was also the questi-on, if the digital games contribute to health-promoting. The technological development processes of exergames have also been gone into the matter of history. The results of this masterthesis are that activity-based games can contribute to the daily physical ac-tivity and that these games also meet to a rehabilitative and preventive requirement. (Hung & Lim, 2007; ISSA, 2007; Hansen & Sanders, 2008; Mhurchu, Maddison, Jiang, Jull, Prapavessis & Rodgers, 2008; Graves, Stratton, Ridgers & Cable, 2007, 2008; Lanningham-Foster, Jesen, Foster, Redmond, Walker, Heinz & Levine, 2006). Due to further studies exergames has shown preventive and health effects for older people (Ijsselsteijn, Nap, De Kort & Poels, 2007; Wischnowsky, 2007). Activity-based games are on the best way to be regarded as a future field of research of sports science.

Computer- und Videospiele gewannen in den letzten Jahren zusehends an Popularität. Einen wesentlichen Beitrag dazu leisteten innovative und bewegungsfördernde Spielsteuerungen, denen gesundheitsfördernden Wirkungen nachgesagt wurden. Die deutschsprachigen Medien nahmen sich dieser technologischen Entwicklung an und berichteten ausführlich über bewegungsfördernde digitale Bildschirmspiele (Pressetext Austria, 2008; zit.n. Futurezone, 2008; DerStandard, 2008).
