Abstract

Vorliegende Diplomarbeit untersucht die Rolle von Barack Obamas politischer Rhetorik und deren Anteil an dessen Wahlerfolg im US-amerikanischen Präsidentschaftswahlkampf 2008. Als Hinleitung zur Fragestellung werden unter Zuhilfenahme aktueller wissenschaftlicher Literatur die Rolle der Massenmedien bei erfolgreicher Politikvermittlung und der Stellenwert politischer Rhetorik aufgezeigt. Anhand der Analyse ausgewählter Reden und rhetorischer Stilmittel Obamas sowie aufgrund der Auswertung unterschiedlicher Studien zu Barack Obamas Popularität und Rhetorik wird systematisch aufgezeigt, dass Obamas rednerische Fähigkeiten ein wesentlicher Erfolgsfaktor für den Wahltriumph des nunmehrigen US-Präsidenten waren.
