Das Verhältnis der Babenberger zu den deutschen Herrschergeschlechtern

Abstract

Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit ist eine Geschichte der Familie der Babenberger als Markgrafen von Österreich und Herzöge von Österreich und der Steiermark, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf das Verhältnis zu den deutschen Herrschergeschlechtern liegt. Anhand von verschiedenen Aspekten wird versucht zu zeigen, dass die Babenberger in ihrer 270 Jahre lang andauernden Zeit als Markgrafen und Herzöge dem Römisch-Deutschem König, mit wenigen Ausnahmen, immer treu blieben und dadurch die Entwicklung ihres Gebietes förderten und den eigenen Einfluss stärkten.
