This article considers the influence of computer games on individual development. It explores aspects related to problematic use of video games, as well as the benefits which include, among others, cognitive development. The issues raised are considered both in terms of their impact on children and adults (mainly in relation to their role as parents of young people using games) and seniors. It also considers the possibilities of using video games to support the inhibition of dementia and in the recovery process of alcohol addiction and cigarette addiction.
