
A artrite reumatoide (AR) é uma doença autoimune de etiologia desconhecida, caracterizada por poliartrite periférica, simétrica, que leva à deformidade e à destruição das articulações. A doença intersticial pulmonar (DIP) é uma complicação comum da AR, com alta morbidade e mortalidade. Trata-se de uma revisão da literatura e síntese dos resultados a partir de artigos científicos publicados e indexados no Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE). Os fatores de risco para DIP relacionados à AR estão bem estabelecidos, como idade avançada, sexo masculino, tabagismo e soropositividade para fator reumatoide e peptídeo citrulinado anticíclico. Todavia provas de função pulmonar alteradas, velocidade de hemossedimentação (VHS) e proteína C reativa (PCR) elevados não estão bem estabelecidos como fatores de risco consolidados.
