Abstract The state-of-the-art in nuclear logging-while-drilling measurements is discussed. Recent improvements in design and interpretation to address the difficulties encountered by these measurements in the dynamic borehole environment that exists are described. Examples of evaluation of the measurement from field data are given. Use of three-dimensional Monte Carlo modeling techniques to complement field measurements in assessing these measurements is illustrated.
