Glucosamine sulfate has been reported to reverse or stop the progression of osteoarthritis. Glucosamine is promoted as a nutritional supplement that rebuilds damaged articular surfaces and relieves pain as effectively as ibuprofen, but without serious side effects. However, there are many reasons to be cautious about the claims surrounding the use of this substance, particularly the claims involving reversal of joint degeneration.
