Aerodynamic Center and Center of Pressure of an Airfoil at Supersonic Speeds

Abstract

IT is WELL KNOWN that according to the Ackeret (or linearized) theory for supersonic flow both the aerodynamic center and the center of pressure of a symmetrical airfoil are always at the midpoint of the chord. It appears, however, that no general formulas have as yet been given for determining the aerodynamic center and center of pressure of a cambered airfoil. Such formulas will be developed herein.
