C-Band Multifunction Chip for the RADARSAT Constellation Mission

Abstract

1 is currently underway. Three Earth Observation Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites will take over the functions of Radarsat-1 and 2, maintaining C-Band data continuity for the next decade. Lessons learned on Radarsat-2's program paved the way to the identification of a number of critical circuits, in particular the Multifunction Chip (MFC) which is the heart of the Transmit/Receive Module (TRM) and allows control of the SAR antenna pattern and imaging modes. As a strategic risk reducing activity, the CSA has developed a C-Band Multifunction Chip that will be used in the RCM Transmit/Receive Modules.
