Average measurements of conductivities and Hall parameters in a Faraday MHD generator are presented. The measurement scheme is simple and requires no special probes other than peg walls that provide two-dimensional voltage field measurements in the generator. No corrections are made for the conductivity profiles at the generator walls. The use of this scheme for the estimation of average flow velocities is described which may provide a valuable tool to diagnose the generator performance in real time.
