The utilization of a thin jet of air exiting in the spanwise direction from a slot at each of the tips of a straight wing has been investigated as a means of generating weak lift modulation. A theory showing the analytical relationship between blowing intensity and aerodynamic forces was developed and its results were compared against experiments. It was found that the lift gain due to lateral blowing depends on the /3 power of the jet blowing intensity.
