A plot of a sample pressure distribution for various values of N is given in Fig. 2. Here the electromagnetic effect essentially increases the total pressure by giving rise to a magnetic pressure. The electromagnetic force in this situation is a purely irrotational body force. Grad generally indicated that this type of problem was reducible but gave no explicit calculations. A final point of interest is the boundary conditions on the electric field at infinity; one must be careful to specify the frame of reference in which the field is measured. Here we have chosen to assume that the fluid at infinity has no local electric fluid as would be the case both for a body moving through a stationary fluid with no applied electric field and for flow over a fixed body in certain cases in a wind tunnel. In the latter case the flow channel may be made to act as an open circuit generator, and charge would accumulate on the walls to give rise to zero electric field in the local frame of the fluid far from the cylinder.
