Summary: An efficient implicit LU-TVD scheme is developed to solve the two- dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The scheme uses a lower and upper approximate factorization of the implicit operator and has been applied to a viscous high-speed flow problem for validation purposes. Extensive testing indicates that the efficiency of a TVD method can be greatly increased without losing accuracy.
