O GRITO DA GAIVOTA: REVERBERAÇÃO DA CULTURA SURDA

Abstract

Escrever sobre si, mais que uma revelação do íntimo, possibilita a evidenciação de aspectos culturais e históricos de uma determinada comunidade. Nesse ponto de vista, este trabalho propõe elucidar os elementos culturais do povo surdo presentes na obra autoficcional O grito da gaivota (1994), da autora surda Emmanuelle Laborit, por meio de reflexões a respeito dos artefatos culturais propostos pela autora surda Karin Strobel (2008), para tanto, utiliza-se como metodologia a pesquisa bibliográfica de cunho qualitativo. Na autoficção, a personagem evidencia a trajetória de vida de uma mulher surda e a luta pelo reconhecimento das especificidades do povo surdo, nesse contexto, evidenciam-se as especificidades que permeiam a Cultura Surda e a militância da Comunidade Surda na busca pelo reconhecimento da sua história e sua cultura. Dessa forma, esse trabalho propõe uma reflexão acerca dos artefatos culturais do povo surdo, que emergiram a partir de sua forma de expressar e perceber o mundo, possibilitando-lhe, assim, ser o autor da sua própria história.
