Abstract

El presente libro aborda temáticas asociadas a la afrodescendencia y constituye un referente para la historiografía, merecedora de reconocimientos, esfuerzos y avances. Como respuesta al gran impulso que se le ha dado en Colombia a la disciplina, La Facultad de Humanidades de la Universidad del Valle ha reunido a diversos autores, quienes abordan, desde diversas metodologías de las Ciencias Sociales y desde. propuestas teóricas, importantes estudios del poblamiento afrodescendiente. Aquí se relacionan aspectos como: los Reales de minas; una historia de las prácticas culturales y del folclore de las sociedades afrodescendientes en el norte del Cauca; la memoria afrodescendiente como capital social; el aporte de la obra de Manuel Zapata Olivella desde la crítica literaria; y el análisis a las versiones literarias y a la historia sobre el líder cimarrón Benkos Biohó. Más allá de una simple sumatoria de temas, el lector podrá hacer una relación desde las Ciencias Sociales, desde puntos de procedencia disciplinaria y puntos de encuentro en sociedades que interesa conocer a fondo: las afrodescendientes.
