DEPENDENCIA ECONÓMICA: EL CASO ECUATORIANO

Abstract

La presente investigacion presenta un analisis, teorico y practico, de la dependencia economica en Ecuador. En cuanto a esta materia se refiere, la ley de competencia ecuatoriana presenta deficiencias dentro de su metodologia. Esta investigacion propone una solucion partiendo de una descripcion exhaustiva de regulaciones y doctrina comparada. El resultado de este analisis condujo a establecer un proceso de tres pasos para la identificacion de dependencia entre dos operadores economicos. El primero es delimitar el mercado relevante; el segundo, observar que empresas tienen un grado de dependencia superior al 50%; y, el tercero, consiste en identificar -de estas ultimas firmas aquellas que tengan un costo de sustitucion superior al 15%. Posteriormente, se aplico la metodologia en el sector de la distribucion de productos a traves de la cadena de distribucion en donde se logro identificar 321 empresas dependientes. Finalmente, se presenta una estimacion, mediante modelos de respuesta binaria, que identifica los factores que causan la dependencia; entre los principales se destacan la diversificacion de clientes y la comercializacion de productos con bajo valor agregado.
