Abstract

Masculinities in two characters in Temporada de huracanes by Fernanda Melchor AbstractThis article aims to investigate the non-hegemonic masculinities of twocharacters in the novel Temporada de huracanes, by Fernanda Melchor, basedon gender studies research, together with the theory of intersectionalityand the Mediterranean model of system sex-gender. Since the identitiesof the revised characters do not correspond to the characteristics of anormative masculinity, two terms of the particular ways through whichtheir personality is manifested are proposed below: perversion and abjection. These give a more complete idea of the way they interact with thecharacters around them and the violence in which they live.
