Comparación de la eficacia de la toxina botulínica frente a anestésicos locales en el tratamiento del síndrome miofascial del piso pélvico: un estudio comparativo

Abstract

El tratamiento de referencia del síndrome miofascial del piso pélvico aún no está establecido. Este estudio incluyó mujeres mayores de 18 años atendidas en un servicio de urología ginecológica de un hospital de tercer nivel en la Ciudad de México. Se llevó a cabo un análisis comparativo entre dos grupos de tratamiento: el primero consistió en infiltración de toxina botulínica tipo A, mientras que el segundo recibió infiltración con lidocaína y dexametasona (anestésico local). El seguimiento de las pacientes se realizó durante 6 meses. La evaluación de ambos grupos se efectuó mediante el cuestionario PGI-I (Patient Global Impression of Improvement) enfocado en calidad de vida, y se registraron los efectos adversos. Los resultados del análisis comparativo mostraron un mayor porcentaje de mejoría en las pacientes tratadas con toxina botulínica tipo A, con diferencias estadísticamente significativas a la semana (p < 0.001), los 3 meses (p = 0.006) y los 6 meses (p < 0.001). Además, las pacientes que recibieron toxina botulínica tipo A reportaron una mayor mejoría sin presentar eventos adversos relevantes.
