Cirugía transanal mínimamente invasiva para el síndrome de McKittrick-Wheelock: a propósito de un caso con manejo quirúrgico innovador

Abstract

El síndrome de McKittrick-Wheelock es una afección poco frecuente que se caracteriza por la presencia de un adenoma velloso colorrectal, manifestándose con diarrea crónica mucosecretora de alto gasto que genera deshidratación, hiponatremia, hipopotasemia y falla renal prerrenal. Presentamos el caso de un hombre de 71 años con síndrome de McKittrick-Wheelock por adenoma velloso de recto distal que fue tratado mediante cirugía transanal mínimamente invasiva (TAMIS), logrando la resección completa del tumor con bordes negativos y una recuperación posoperatoria rápida y sin complicaciones. Este caso resalta el TAMIS como una alternativa quirúrgica eficaz, segura y de menor morbilidad para el manejo de esta patología.
