Impacto de la educación en diabetes con el uso de plataformas digitales y telemedicina en niños con diabetes tipo 1

Abstract

Introducción: El tratamiento para los pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo (DM1) requiere el uso de insulina, junto con una adecuada gestión de la glucemia y cambios en el estilo de vida. La terapia puede complementarse con el uso de plataformas de salud móvil que, junto con educación, automonitoreo y telemedicina, mejoran el autocontrol de la patología. Objetivo: Determinar el impacto de la salud móvil a través del uso de una aplicación, junto con educación en diabetes y automonitoreo estructurado de glucemia por medio de telemedicina, en niños con DM1. Método: Análisis de datos que fueron recolectados del programa educativo «Mi dulce desafío », proyecto de la Sociedad Ecuatoriana de Endocrinología Pediátrica, en el que participaron 40 pacientes pediátricos con DM1. Resultados: Se observó una disminución de la hemoglobina glucosilada (HbA1c) inicial del 2.83%, valor estadísticamente significativo (p < 0.0001). Antes de la intervención, solo el 17% de los participantes tenían la HbA1c en rango, finalizando el 58% con HbA1c dentro del rango. Conclusiones: Consideramos que las herramientas digitales junto con la telemedicina asociada a educación benefician significativamente la adherencia al tratamiento y el control glucémico, con la consecuente disminución del riesgo de complicaciones agudas y crónicas de la patología.
