Macrobrachium nattereri, Heller, 1862, está señalada por primera vez como especie nativa de la Amazonía peruana. La especie ha sido encontrada en pequeñas quebradas de agua negra, someras, con fondo arenoso y hojas en proceso de descomposición; con abundante vegetación ribereña, en localidades próximas a Iquitos, Región Loreto en la Amazonía Peruana.
